Very enjoyable read. The world building is fantastic and quickly introduces complex mechanics which work in that universe. It’s an interesting thematic mix between Spirited Away and Starship Troopers. At times the story got surprisingly dark and brutal, but this was balanced by the classic gruff soldier-cheerful girl dynamic.
Both main characters are well realised and very efficiently in the span of a short story. The enemies are another interesting concept, which makes you think how would you even fight such an opponent.
While this works as a standalone story, it’d be a shame if this is where it ended with all that setup..
