The comic was amazing. I can’t wait to see how Ichabod’s story unfolds in the next issue.
A great dark fantasy story with soulslike elements. I was epecially pleased that there were some hitorically inspired sword techniques.
One complaint though….Once I started reading it…….I couldn’t stop until I finished it.

Having enjoyed Horizon Quest as much as I did, I’ve been looking forward to Reaper for quite some time. My anticipation was not wasted. While that comic was written by a different writer, and curious to see how the artist of that comic might differ, I’m exceedingly happy to say Reaper’s writing is still top notch fantasy. Like her other works, it’s to the point, and flows well without excessive pandering to audiences that don’t or perhaps never did exist, and without a slog of “marvel quips” gumming up the flow of the dialogue. Moreover, Trisha Cuffari’s artistic skills have only improved since Horizon Quest, both in overall style, as well in execution, both of which serve the slightly darker tone and aesthetic of this comic. Even without knowing some of the behind the scenes drama the author faced in bringing this work to light (and there is some to be sure), it is clear as day how much of a love-labour this comic has been, and with how much love the series will be treated as it continues on. For anyone with even the slightest appreciation for fantasy comics, buy this comic, as for myself I greatly look forward to book 2, and whatever else is to come from BurningStar/Trisha Cuffari and her associated writers and artists, anon.

Reaper was an engaging read from start to finish.
Highlights:
-Great dialogue
-Likable and interesting characters
-Exciting and fast paced action scenes
-Aesthetically pleasing artwork that captures both the tone and detail of the fantasy setting
-An ending that leaves you wanting more, while still feeling satisfying
-The very end of the book includes a preview for volume 2, which made me more excited to continue the series.
-The physical copy of the book is well made and beautifully designed. I think physical collectors will appreciate the effort that went into it.
-As a campaign supporter, I received a bookmark that was modeled after the cursed sword in the story. I thought it was cool, so I wanted to mention it here.
I think this is one of my favorite works from Burning Star Comics so far. I can tell that a lot of passion went into this project, which makes the world of Reaper feel “alive.” I’m definitely going to check out the next volume once it’s released.
